Volleyball Northland Inc. is affiliated with Volleyball New Zealand and currently has limited adult competitive playing numbers. Its primary focus is on growing the game across the region through community volleyball opportunities, youth engagement, regional development sessions, and school competitions.
Social playing opportunities are offered each year across indoor and outdoor formats, including grass and beach volleyball. These programmes are delivered in a range of communities throughout Northland. Predominantly over the summer months some communities promote recreational grass court volleyball on range of community spaces.
Competitive teams can enter the Northern Zone Club League and take part in Auckland-based competitions during the July to September season. These competitions are followed by the National Club Championships, held each October.
Inter-Provincial Championship (IPC) teams are also often selected at youth under-19 and adult levels. These teams compete in the annual IPC tournament, which is usually held at a North Island venue in June.
Beach volleyball is offered during the summer months at both Regional and AA levels across a range of Northland venues including beaches and schools that have Beach Volleyball Courts. Representative teams are selected for IPC championships each year in January.
Regular opportunities are provided to support development in Northland. Player development workshops are held regularly along with Coach and Referee education and development workshops.
