FEBRUARY   2024

Sponsors  BBQ evening      Friday 9th

A gret evenning enjoyed by all the members who attended. It is a shame only 2 of our sponsors could attend but they did enjoy themselves.   A representative from Waikanae Funeral Home came along but couldn''t stay to play . 2 representatives from Summerset stayed and enjoyed a great time on the lawns with our members and then participated in the BBQ.    Lots of fun was had by all who attended.   I hope we can get more Sponsors along next year.

DECEMBER   2023

Xmas is fast approaching and I hope to see you all at our Xmas Luncheon on Saturday 16th December.  I hope you are all enjoying our lawns now. They are looking and playing well

NOVEMBER  2023  -   We hosted the CNZ Assoc Women's Invitation Event from the 10th - 12th Nuvember. The weather was knd and the players enjoyed our hospitaiity and our lawns..  Thank you members for making the lawns available for this tournament.  I do hope ou went to play at Paraparaumu, good to play with other people also.

Xmas is fast approaching and the Xmas Luncheon is booking up fast.

September 2023:

We Opened the Summer Season with a Barbeque, and some fun games organised by Club Captain, Graeme Roberts.   Thank you to our Sponsors Hobson Mills Law, who provided a sausage sizzle lunch with desert slices provided by committee members.

Winter Season ended Saturday 26 August and lawns were closed for 2 weeks for Kapiti Coast District Council to work on them.

AUGUST

Winter play is well under way and there have been lots of players from Waikanae and Paraparaumu playing, plus players from Plimmerton, Levin, Petone and Waimari/Hutt. The lawns have been very busy and it is good to see  the Code of Association being played by so many.  We have had up to 20 players on the lawns lots of days and I know that the Golf Code has been very busy too.    Our lawns are coping well thanks to the KCDC team,  they are doing a great job keeping them in good condition.

Thanks to Peter Wallace, our Grounds person,  he is keeping the lawn surrounds short and the weeds removed.  All looking good, a big job well done.

The Summer Season starts in about  6 weeks  so looking forward to that.

MAY

The last games of the summer season will be played this Saturday the 6th of May after  our AGM.    The the WINTER SEASON begins the following SATURDAY  13th May.

The members of the Paraparaumu Club will be joining us for the WINTER  so make sure you are early to get your name in for a game.   Please make them welcome and enjoy playing with different people.

MARCH

The end of the Summer Season is fast approaching.  This means our AGM is also on the Agenda for May.   We need members to come forward to take up many of the positions which will becoming vacant at the end of this year.   Please put your name down even if you are a fairly new member,  it is a good way to get to know other members of the Club and also how everything works.

We played Levin for the Ratadalde Trophy a combined Association and Golf competition. I am pleased to say that Waikanae came out the winners this year.

The Golf Players competed against Paraparaumu for the Beth Jessop Trophy and this season the winners were Paraparaumu.

The Association Players cometed against Plimmerton for the Castle Cup which we lost this season.

FEBRUARY

We are hosting the CNZ Association Singles Tournament from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th so the Club will be closed for club play.  Do come along to watch 12 of the top Association players in ACTION.  Most of these players also play Golf Croquet so you can see that it is possible to play both Codes.   Look forward to seeing a lot of members enjoing watching some good croquet.

December   -  Xmas   Lunch

Our annual Xmas get together was held last Saturday the 17th December at the club rooms.    35 of our members had a very enjoyable time together on a wet December day  partaking of the wonderful spread that was organised by our very able Social Condinator Ann Joines.  A big thank you to her, and all those who provided the delicious food.    I hope to have some photos to add to the gallery when I receive them.  Four of our Life members came along,  just 1 was missing  Malcolm McLeod, which was a shame. Malcolm has a family commitment  which makes it difficult for him to participate  in Club events.   I am pleased to let you know that he has been able to come along a few times to play Association on Club days a few times this season, and  even though he plays very seldomly he hasn't lost many games.

Xmas Cake Raffle  was well supported and was won by Robin George. Thank you to all who participated in the raffle, as raffles are a way of raising funds for the Club.

As you know Club play has stopped for the Xmas Break, but you can go along and orgsnise your own games. Please  make sure when you leave that everthing is put away and locked up.   As you know the Women's World Qualifying Tournament has been cancelled, this leaves our lawns available for play by members over this time.

September 13th  2022 We are no longer in ORANGE   so masks etc are no longer required and the Club Rooms will be used as normal once again.

August 15th  WORKING  BEE   Although the day was rather damp with light rain, a lot was achieved by the 12 members who came along to help get the Club and Grounds in top order.  A big Thank You to Ann Joines who provided us with lovely scones for our morning tea.

July 30th      Just to let you all know that the Storeage Shed has been broken into and the LawnMower, Weed eater and the gas bottle have been stolen.  They also damaged the door lock.  We have an Insurance policy but we are liable for the first $1,000.  I guess it will cost at least that.  Angela organised the replacement of the lock and Gary is looking after the Insurance and replacement of the stolen items.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Opening of the new season on the 27th August.

TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM   -   ORANGE

April  2022  we are now in the Orange Light and this means we do not need to show Vac Passes and play is more or less back to normal.   The Waikanae Golf Doubles and Singles Tournament was held over the weekend of 23/24 April and was a huge success.  Jennifer the manager, had a ful field and had a waiting list, so good competition was had by all in beautiful weather.     The AGM is coming up soon so please keep that date free for this  Saturday 7th May.

 TRAFFIC  LIGHT SYSTEM   -     RED

February  2022  -   Well the whole country is now in the RED  Zone.  This doesn't mean much difference for us all just take care, keep safe and ejoy your Croquet.

TRAFFIC  LIGHT  SYSTEM    -        ORANGE

DECEMBER  3rd   our area is now in the ORANGE  ZONE    this means that if you are vaccinated  life is nearly back to normal, although we still need to wear masks when out and about and sign in when entering businesses etc and now we need to have our Vaccination Pass available.  This is designed to keep us all safe, if you do not have a Vaccination Pass your options are limited. This is my understanding of the situation.

September 7th  -  Well here we are back in Alert Level 2   lets hope we go down to level 1 as soon as possible.

If you look under Covid 19  you will see the Health and Safety Programme relating to Alert Level 2 that your committee have updated.

September  2021  -   Alert Level 3 is the name of the game once again so Croquet is Off Limits.  Opening Day has been postponed just as it was last year.  Hopefully we will drop down to Level 2 very soon and the Club can reopen. The Committee are having a Zoom meeting this Monday 6th Sept to discuss our options.  You will all be informed of their decisions as it comes to hand.

In the meantme take care and I look forward to seeing you all soon on the Lawns
