The support of whanau is essential to ensure our basketball teams run successfully.
Each team requires a Coach, Assistant Coach, Manager, Transport to away games, and people to run the Scorebench for home games. These roles are filled by parents, caregivers and supporters.

SCOREBENCH DUTIES
For each home game 3 parents/caregivers are required to run the scorebench. A person to run the shot clock, the game clock and keep the scoresheet. These roles are made easier if there are a pool of willing parents/caregivers to share the workload. The club runs pre-season scorebench training sessions if you are not familiar with operating a scorebench. Each team runs a roster so the parent/caregiver of each player will take a turn on scorebench duty and it is important you attend a scorebench training session, if necessary.

Failure to provide a scorebench can result in the home team defaulting the game.
REFEREE
Each game is officiated by two referees with each team providing one referee. It is the responsibility of each school to provide a referee at their team's matches both home and away. Qualified referees are available for home games at Wellington College. WCBC has a pool of qualified student referees who officiate away games. The team manager organises transport for the student referee to and from the away venue. If a parent or caregiver is willing and able to referee games for their son's team this will be very helpful. We are always looking for more referees to join the pool, contact us directly if you can help.
Failure to provide a referee can result in the game being defaulted by the team who has not provided a referee.
