WELCOME TO THE WELLINGTON COLLEGE RUGBY CLUB
Rugby at Wellington College is run by the Wellington College Rugby Football Club which was established in 1877 and is one of the oldest of its kind in the country.
Wellington College is a very proud and traditional NZ rugby school. The 1st XV are very competitive in the local competition and they also compete in the oldest secondary school rugby tournament, the Quadrangular Tournament. Wellington College also competed in the first ever recorded secondary schools match against Nelson College.
All Blacks
With 35, Wellington College boasts the third highest number of All Blacks of any secondary school in the country. To see the full list, click on the link. Dane Coles became our 33rd All Black on the November 2012 tour, while Jeff Toomaga-Allen became our 34th when he came on as a replacement against Japan in 2013. Most recently, Lima Sopoaga debuted against the Springboks in July 2015.

Open weight grades include Under 18 Open, Under 15 Open
Restricted weight grades include Under 55kg (under 15 years age only), Under 65kg (under 16 years age only) and Under 85kg.

Uniform
Black or Gold jersey, mouth guard and sock tape are provided for the season. White shorts, Black socks with yellow hoop (available from the uniform shop). When teams travel, depending on the logistics of the trip, they will travel in school uniform, number 1's or the new sports tracksuits. The uniform transition period is now over and it is expected that the new tracksuit will be worn. Rugby uniform and school tracksuits are available through the uniform shop. Training
Most teams train twice a week. A summer rugby academy begins in Term 4 and runs through the summer holidays and up until the start of the new season.
Coaching
The WC Rugby prides itself on offering top coaching to its players and providing pathways to move through the grades and onto higher honours. Strong links exist with Wellington Rugby and the school's coaches are able to take advantage of numerous development opportunities.
