WAFC Trophy Award

Kevin Hanks Memorial Trophy

The Kevin Hanks Memorial Trophy Award was established by the WAFC in 2019, following the tragic death of Kevin in April of that year. Kevin was a highly valued WAFC committee member, photographer, coach, parent and friend. Kevin's 4 children have all played for WAFC.

In memory of Kevin, and in recognition of the values he upheld, this trophy is to be awarded annually to a 7-aside or 9-aside player who has consistently demonstrated qualities of sportsmanship during the season .Sportsmanship is defined as behaviour and attitudes that show respect for the rules of a game and for the other players, referees, coaches and members of the club.

A list of qualities that may be used to determine eligibility for this award are listed below. Players can be nominated from team coaches and/or committee members from 7 aside and 9 aside grades. Only one player can be nominated per nominator. When nominating a player please provide examples of their sportsmanship which may be used at the presentation of the award during prize giving. WAFC committee will determine the final recipient.The recipient will receive a trophy, certificate and their name on an honours board which is on display in the club rooms. The recipient will receive photographs with the trophy. The photographs may be published on the WAFC Facebook page and in local media. The trophy may be taken home for a period of a week, at which point it is to be returned to the WAFC coordinator.
