Grants Braes is a people’s club. Most of us are players at times, sure, but at the end of the day that’s not what we remember. We remember the drinks up at the clubrooms after, over 45’s with big belly’s chortling till they starve of breath. We remember the quiz nights, the crowd jeering that the answers were wrong (in fact they were). We remember the oranges at half time, silence barely maintained as kids glance across at their chuckling mates.

Grants Braes isn’t a big club, we know this. But its pride doesn’t lie in the results of our young Fletcher cup team or our tenacious youth teams fighting against the big guns. The pride of Grants Braes is its people. It’s our families who support the club and in turn have a support system in the community anytime they need one. We look after our kids and make sure they grow as footballers, encouraging a love for the game which remains eternal, as reflected by our hefty number of Masters who just refuse to hang up the boots.

We’re there when you need a free skills programme to give you a rest from the kids on a Sunday, we’ve got reduced fees for kids just starting out at school so the costs of this growing period don’t overwhelm you, and we have a catered programme targeted at improving the skills of our young wahine. We’re there to get as many people in the community involved as possible, that’s something we’re proud of.
