"Grants Braes AFC has a successful history of developing Senior Women's teams and is focused on nurturing its own players, ensuring they are well-prepared for the transition into Senior Women's Football when they are ready. Many of these players began their journey at the age of 5 in Grants Braes AFC's Skills Program. Over the past few seasons, the club has successfully brought through a talented group of young female players, culminating in their participation in Senior Women's Division 1 in 2024. Moving forward, Grants Braes AFC remains committed to providing more opportunities for its young female players, with the goal of competing again at the top level of local women's football."
Important Announcement Regarding Snr Women's Football at Grants Braes AFC
We are excited to announce that the Grants Braes AFC Senior Women’s team will be registered under the Otago University Association Football Club (OUAFC), a move that will enhance player development and provide clear pathways to senior football. This partnership will allow our players to seamlessly transition into higher grades while still contributing to both clubs’ strength.
Importantly, the Grants Braes team will continue to wear our iconic colours and play home games at Ocean Grove, maintaining the strong identity and connection to our community. We are committed to keeping registration fees affordable, ensuring this shift remains accessible for all players. Additionally, with approval from Southern Football, our juniors will be able to step up and play in OUAFC's senior women’s teams, accelerating their development and gaining valuable experience.
This initiative opens new doors for our players, strengthens our relationship with OUAFC, and solidifies our long-term commitment to building a successful and sustainable women's football program. We look forward to seeing this vision come to life!
