Join the Fun at Grants Braes AFC!

Grants Braes AFC is excited to announce our focus on girls-only leagues for the 2025 season! This is a fantastic opportunity for young female players to engage in games and develop their love for football.

In 2024, over 95% of Grants Braes AFC girls proudly participated in Girls Only Teams, highlighting our commitment to creating a supportive and empowering environment for young female players. This focus on girls-only teams ensures they have the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence, and thrive in a space dedicated to their growth. By fostering a strong community of female athletes, Grants Braes AFC is leading the way in promoting gender inclusivity and encouraging more girls to take part in the beautiful game.

Why a Girls-Only League? Our girls-only leagues create a supportive environment where young female athletes can:

  • Boost Confidence: Playing in a dedicated space encourages girls to take risks and showcase their talents.
  • Foster Team Spirit: Building strong bonds with teammates enhances camaraderie and teamwork.
  • Enhance Enjoyment: A girls-only setting allows players to focus on having fun and enjoying the game.

Girls playing in Girls Only teams and leagues is beneficial because it provides an environment where they can focus on their development without the pressure of competing with boys, who may differ in physical development at certain ages. This setup encourages confidence-building and allows girls to form strong social bonds, which can enhance their experience of the game. They’re able to see female role models, which can inspire them to pursue football with passion and perseverance. Additionally, girls-only leagues often have a more inclusive, encouraging atmosphere that focuses on both skill development and enjoyment.

For boys, having separate teams is equally advantageous. It ensures that boys play in a competitive setting suited to their own physical development, which can be faster during certain stages of growth. This allows boys to challenge themselves against players of similar development, pushing their technical and physical limits. It also promotes a sense of equality and mutual respect between genders, as both boys and girls can thrive in their respective environments without overshadowing one another. Ultimately, separate leagues for boys and girls help both groups progress at their own pace, creating a more balanced and inclusive football community.
