The men's Geraldine bowling team are off to Wellington to represent South Canterbury in the National Interclub Sevens next year.

In what was a nail biting finish, the Geraldine club won on differential against a strong Kia Toa team with both teams winning ten games in the last round.

The Geraldine four of Dave Vujcich, Ricky Ross, Dave Curtis, and Kieran Aker had a runaway win in the last game against Waimate to seal them the victory with a big differential.

In the Pairs Geraldine's Dan Rooney and Roger Glendinning lost in a cliffhanger against the Timaru Pair of Warren Garrick and Graeme Sangster. Garrick was leading by two shots going into the last end, ran Kitty into the ditch when he was two down to win the game.

Kia Toa's Pairs team of Sean O'Neill and Mick Goodger were outclassed by West End's Dave McNeill and Shayne Chisnall.

Kia Toa's Singles player Trevor Cloughey had a win against Timaru's Tony Marshall.

The Kia Toa fours (Richie Kerr's team) also won against Temuka's Dave Carey.

The last game on the green was the decider to see who would represent South Canterbury in National Final and it was a beauty between Geraldine's Alphy Trevathan and Temuka's Marshall Stoddart. With scores level at 20 all, Marshall was holding three shots but Trevathan with his 3rd bowl was tight but got a glide off the shot bowl to hold shot, but Stoddart had a yard draw shot that went sailing through to give the Geraldine team the win. Trevathan was outstanding in the singles,  winning four from five only going down to Kia Toa's Trevor Cloughley.

The West End Pairs of Dave McNeill and Shayne Chisnall won four games and drew one against outstanding opposition, while Kia Toa's Richie Kerr's four of Dean Harper, Paul Brohan, and Aaron Taylor had five from five wins. Kerr said after the game the four gelled well with outstanding leading from Aaron Taylor. In fact,  he said Taylor would have to be by far the best 2 bowl lead in South Canterbury at present.

The Geraldine four played good steady bowls over the  weekend with Dave Curtis the most consistent over the weekend.  Geraldine will now be on the plane to Wellington against New Zealand's best.
