ABOUT CARDINALS TAEKWONDO CLUB

Taekwondo is a martial art originating in Korea, and is an Olympic sport.

Cardinals Taekwondo Club (founded in 1997) is a family friendly club. The emphasis of our sessions is on fun, flexibility and fitness.

If you are interested in taekwondo you are welcome to come along and participate or watch for a couple of sessions before deciding whether to join.  Contact us to find out when we are accepting the next intake of beginners.

Sessions always start with a physical warm-up, and then involve practising different kicks, punches and blocks, building up technique and speed.  These elements are used in our Poomsae (patterns).  Self defence techniques are also taught and practised.   Friday sessions include sparring.  The class ends with a cool down.

There are opportunities to attend gradings once or twice a year, to progress to the next belt.  Club members also regularly attend tournaments both locally and nationally.

The sessions are suitable for all genders from the age of 7 years up, and we have many parents who train with their children.

The benefits of Taekwondo include:

  • Improving coordination, fitness and flexibility
  • Improving concentration and focus
  • Learning self defence
  • Developing leadership skills, self-respect and respect for others
  • Improving self esteem and self confidence

We are a not-for-profit incorporated society and welcome the involvement of members and families in the running of the club.  If you have questions about Taekwondo or the club, please contact our instructor (details via 'contact' tab)
