Uniform

Formal Uniform must be worn for Branch, Club and Area Events and Activities (including team events). Informal Uniform can be worn when specified by coaches. This includes DBPC Hoodies, Jackets, Polo Shirts.

A formal uniform consists of:

  • Helmet: When mounted a properly fitting, securely fastened, correctly maintained and yellow tagged helmet meeting current standards (see attached list of current standards)

  • Shirt: A collared shirt in white, with either long or short sleeves. A short-sleeved shirt must be worn with a long-sleeved jersey, sweatshirt or top.

  • Tie: Forest green

  • Badge: Worn below the knot of the tie and with appropriate certificate clip

  • Jersey: Long sleeved DBPC cross country top

  • Jodphurs/Breeches: Light coloured

  • Jewellery: Earrings, ear studs, and any other exposed jewellery must be removed or taped. Tongue studs must be removed.

  • Boots: (a) Standard riding/jodphur boots with a fairly smooth thin sole and well-defined heel (black or brown). (b) Long riding boots (black or brown or black with a brown top. (c) Two piece – gaiters full grain leather that resembles the riding boots. Suede and or added adornments are not allowed.

  • Stirrups: must be correct size to fit boot. 20mm clearance when boot pushed to one side of iron.

  • Whips: May be carried

  • Spurs: Should only be used by experienced riders; please seek advice from your coach before using. Spurs capable of wounding a horse are forbidden. Spurs are not allowed in Games or in some dressage tests.

  • Back Protectors: Are strongly recommended for all levels of jumping. Correctly fitting and appropriately tagged back protectors are compulsory for all cross country.


New Members Uniform: New members are not expected to have the full uniform listed above immediately. However, for safety the following requirements must be met:

  • Helmet (see attached list of current standards)

  • Tidy trousers/track suit pants

  • Jewellery (refer to guidelines above)

  • Boots (refer to guidelines above)

  • Stirrups (refer to guidelines above)

  • Spurs when being used (refer to guidelines above)

  • Back protectors (refer to guidelines above)


After five (5) working rallies, members are expected to comply with the Formal Uniform requirements.


Where to get the uniform:

Club Cross Country Jerseys  and Badges can be bought through the PC. Ties can be bought from The Saddlery Warehouse, Mosgiel. From time to time the Pony Club will do special orders for Sweatshirts/Hoodies, Jackets, Saddle Blankets and Browbands. Please ask if we have any in stock if you are wanting to purchase these, or to register your interest for an upcoming order.
