What is the Colgate Games?
The Colgate Games, held in January every year, is 3-day event. One event is held in each island on consecutive weekends. For children, these are the biggest childrens athletics meets in New Zealand with up to around 1,200 athletes attending each event. The Colgate Games are open to all registered athletes aged 7 - 14yrs.
Do you have to qualify?
No, anyone can enter but you must be registered with an athetics club and you must register all individual events by the closing date. There are NO late entries permitted.
How much does it cost?
Athletes: Each event is $9.50 and children can enter upto 5 individual events as well as both relays if selected. Payment for individual events is made at the time you enter online. Fairfield Athletics pay for relay entries and will announce relay teams soon after entries have closed.
Spectators: There is a charge at the gate for spectators/parents. You can buy a 3-day pass via GameDay that allows you to come and go as many times as you like. Cost is $21.00 per person for the 3-day pass. Children under 15 are free.

How do the events and awards work?
7 - 9 year olds: Each running heat or field flight is a straight final and pennants are given to each heat/flight 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Consolation ribbons will be awarded to all other competitors.
10 - 14 year olds: Heats, semi-finals and finals will operate for most events with medals given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. 'Finalist' ribbons will be awarded to all 8 competitors qualifying for a final.
