Vocational Programmes

We are leaders in offering education opportunities through our Gateway and Pathways programmes.

Gateway

Gateway is designed to support students transition from secondary schooling to employment by offering them workplace experience while still at school.   If students choose to spend time in a workplace on a Gateway placement, the college will support them to acquire any equipment or clothing required. Gateway students are expected to achieve 20 NCEA credits through a placement in any one year.

Trades Academies
UCOL, Weltec and Primary ITO offer programmes under the umbrella of Te Pukenga (New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology) for students to study on their campus for one or more days a week and study at Kuranui College for the remaining days.

Limited spaces apply to the Trades Academy programmes.  Students must apply for these programmes through the Careers Department.  Student applications are supported with a school endorsement and students will attend two inteviews, one with a school panel and one with the tertiary provider prior to acceptance on a programme.
