We have 4 passionate staff and a large number of coaches and volunteers who bring energy, expertise, and a huge love for the sport! Nala the sheepdog is really the one in charge, she hangs out with us at the Beach Centre and has a very good return if you throw a volleyball to her!

Maria Tyrrell

Maria brings a wealth of experience in sports administration, having served on the Harbour Basketball Board and as General Manager of BNZ Kāhu - Auckland’s professional women’s basketball team. As our Regional Manager, Maria leads the strategic and operational direction of Harbour Volleyball, ensuring our programmes, competitions, and community initiatives run to a high standard. Working with Volleyball New Zealand,  other Regional Associations, clubs and partners to ensure Harbour remains a leader in all areas of volleyball delivery.

Rob Tarr

Game Development Manager

Rob is the Game Development Manager and he has been a big part of Harbour Volleyball Association since joining us in January 2016. Rob is a coach with very high knowledge of the game. His passion and love for the game has made him the person he is today, playing for both the USA Men's National Team and in multiple pro teams all over the world. 

Rob has been coaching since 2002 at the local, national and international level.

Rob is available for private coaching sessions.

Adam Watson

Volleyball Development Officer

Adam is our Volleyball Development Officer who joined us in 2021, making a big impact on the facility and the development of volleyball at all levels across the region. Having studied coaching at university, and coaching since the age of 18, he has spent the previous 10  years dedicated to volleyball. He is the current head coach of the National Women’s Indoor Team (Volleyferns).

Adam is available for private coaching sessions.
