Why will my child enjoy it?
- For a team sport Kiwivolley is unique in that everytime a team wins their serve back everyone rotates clockwise around the court. In this way every child gets to play every position for a similar amount of time.
- Our sessions are split between coaching to continually build each child's skills and playing time
- Coaches focus on ensuring all children are successful. For example, if a child doesn’t serve the ball over on the first attempt, they move forward by a metre and get a 2nd attempt.
- For beginners, our referees - who are also all coaches - will often pause a game and repeat an unsuccessful shot so a child can learn faster and experience success.
- We will always endeavour to have a coach to player ratio of at least 1 to 8, so each child gets a good level of attention from our coaches to advance their skills
- And for parents and guardians, you just need to get your child to the venue, we will look after the rest.
More great reasons...
- Kiwivolley involves a wide range of skills. It focuses on improving fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, passing and striking, while also developing teamwork and physical literacy.
- Volleyball can be played indoor, outside on grass or sand and as long as you have at least 4 players to play 2 a side, it can be enjoyed by any number of people.
- It’s a great family game. Those who are behind setting up OJV are all parents who can attest to enjoying the game as a family, often at a beach while on holiday.
- Volleyball is a true global sport. Wherever your child may travel in their adult life, they will regularly come across volleyball being played both socially and competitively. And what better way to make friends than to be able to confidently join in.
