From the 2019 AGM

We welcome new faces onto the Croquet South Canterbury Executive, these include Karyn Close (Geraldine Club) as the new Handicapper, and three new Town members Maurice Young (Ashbury), Graeme Simpson (Aorangi) and Alison Bartlett (West End). While Janet Skerrett (Aorangi) Town VP and Lexia Fox (Waimate) Coach Co-ordinater return. We thank Kevin McGlinchy (Aorangi) for his leadership over the last three years as President and look forward to Audrey Leath (Waireka) tenure in the role of of President of Croquet South Canterbury.

Life Membership was conferred on two people who have given and continue to contribute to Croquet in our region.

    Raylene Phillips (Waireka) has served as a Country member, Country VP and President of our Association. She is a very competant Manager of Tournaments both local, regional and for the NZ Croquet Council, she has been involved as an Umpire and was a Golf Croquet Referee. Raylene has championed the Secondary schools program. She has been the driving force behind the Waireka Club as they built a new Pavilion and extended from being a four lawn club to a six lawn club.

    Brian Monckton (Awamoa/Gardens) has served as the Association Referee over two terms and as the Assn VP and President for two years. Brian gained his Senior Referee qualification in 2005 and his Golf croquet qualication in 2010, he served on the CNZ Council 2010-13 and during that time he was convenor of the laws committeee and oversaw the rewriting of the new Examinations following the 2008 AC law changes. He is currently a member of the CNZ laws committee and is an examining referee in both codes. As an international referee Brian has ajudicated in numerous World Championships and these extend into the future. He has coached at club and secondary school level.

Dates to remember.

August 27th 10 am at Aorangi 2019 - All those managing tournaments or who are interested in learning the procedures to managing a successful tournament will need to attend, please bring lunch and a note book.

Entries for the Inter club and Flag matches need to be in by September 1st 2019.

Masters Games in 2019 in Nelson not happening so SC is running a Croquet event, all clubs have received a flyer please note entries open on July 1st and close on September 27th. Golf Croquet days 14-16th,  AC croquet 17-18th in Tmaru.

Gala Day is Opening day 11th September at Ashbury club.  11am start $2 fee.
