Wellington College Hockey Club Awards Criteria

Rookie of the Year
Best/most promising player in their first year of playing hockey.

Best Junior (U15)
Best player under 15 years of age (as at 1st of January) in the club.

Most Promising Player
The player (not necessarily from the 1st XI) who showed the most potential to improve.

Outstanding Performance by a Goalie

Awarded to a goalkeeper who has performed in an outstanding manner, including recognition at representative age group level, winning key finals through shoot-outs, or simply an outstanding season’s play.

Umpire of the Year
The umpire who demonstrates a significant commitment to umpiring, a fair and good attitude, as well as demonstrating a high level of competence and ability.

Sportsmanship & Club Spirit Award
The player who demonstrates the best conduct, fairness, respect for their team mates, the opposition and the umpires, graciousness in winning or losing, supportive of and acts as a role model for other members of the team and club.

Contribution to Hockey
Player(s) who has made the greatest contribution in terms of playing, leadership, coaching, umpiring or administrative functions.

Player of the Year
The most valuable player and club member due to their contribution on the field and their success as a player.
