Pony Club relies heavily on the support of parents to function smoothly and effectively. This means that all parents of riding members must actively contribute during rallies and assist our dedicated volunteer coaches. While the committee works tirelessly to keep everything running, additional help is always required for rallies and events.
Helping at rallies
- We require parents of all riders to help with set up and pack down for rallies.
- At the beginning of the rally please check with the Head Coach as to what needs done.
- During the rally, parents can help coaches with moving jumps, picking up poles, scooping poo in the arena, etc.
- At the end of the rally, the arena dressage and jump areas need to be returned to the way they were before the rally.
- Please ask if you are not sure what is required.
Helping at events
- If you plan to enter your rider in an event, please make sure you are available to assist with the required duties. If as a parent you are unable to commit to helping, please don’t enter your child.
- For some events, entries will not be accepted unless helpers’ names are listed. These roles are often flexible, with options to help before or after the event to accommodate your rider’s schedule. Signing up early ensures you can select the tasks that best suit you.
- During the year Clyde runs several events and also contributes to Central Otago Pony Club events as one of it's member branches. Please consider volunteering even if your child is not riding, as this is a great way to see how these events work.
- Many volunteer roles at events do not require any horsey knowledge but they are vital to the running of events. Requests for event volunteers are often emailed out or put on the Clyde FB page.
Change the Rein
Ensuring horse welfare is a top priority for our Pony Club. Coaches are dedicated to promoting the health and happiness of all horses and will take thoughtful action to safeguard their well-being whenever necessary. We wholeheartedly embrace the Change the Rein motto, promoting positivity and respect. To uphold our standards, we employ a yellow card system if necessary. Yellow cards can be issued to any rider, parent, spectator or official if behaviour is not aligned with our values. Remember, Pony Club is not just about competition—it’s about community, growth, and the love of the horse.
Let’s work together to make it a rewarding experience for everyone.
