Clyde Pony Club uniform

Our branch is proud to supply an awesome uniform for our riders! 

Once you have joined Pony Club, it is expected that all riders wear our casual branch uniform for rallies. 

If you are new and do not have a uniform top, a tidy shirt with a collar is expected.


Rally Uniform

  • Yellow Tagged Helmet. No other helmet is accepted, please check with the head coach if you are unsure
  • Long hair MUST be either in a bun or plaited.
  • Long sleeve rally top.
  • Jodphurs in any single plain colour (not active pants).
  • Short riding boots (with or without chaps) or long riding boots.
  • Clyde Pony Club saddle blanket


Formal team uniform and exam uniform ​​​​​​​

  • Riders will need a white collared shirt (short or long sleeve; school shirts with top button are fine) and a gold Clyde tie - both to be worn under the long sleeve Clyde rally top.
  • For mounted games teams, riders ride in their rally top only.
  • There are other parts of the team uniform that can be borrowed when needed.
  • Riders can also purchase a COPC badge. Each time they pass a certificate level riders get awarded a pin to put on their badge.

​​​​​​​Some items are sourced from NZPCA and some from our suppliers.  Uniform tops can take up to 3 weeks from the time the order is placed. 

We will place a minimum of two orders per season so it is best to order as soon as you can at the start of the season.  We will do another order around January for new members.


Clyde representitive jackets

  • Riders are presented with a Clyde jacket after being selected to represent the branch on a competitive Clyde team. Please note, this only applies for teams where selection is required and for the first competitve team.
  • The first jacket is kindly sponsored by the Harrex family and Laser Electrical Alexandra. Any additional jacket must be purchased - see Michelle Harrex


Clyde browbands

Custom made velvet browbands in Clyde colours can be ordered through Finishing Touch Equestrian.

PONY CLUB MANUALS

  • NZPCA Pony Club Manuals are an essential part of both rider and parents learning journey with your pony.
  • Manual 1 covers D - C certificate information, particularly on how to care for your pony and we suggest you start with this
  • Manual 2 covers C+ certificate and above.
  • These are available to purchase from the NZPCA E-Shop   https://nzpca.mystorbie.com/ or from some equestrian suppliers.




HELMET and BODY PROTECTOR SAFETY STANDARDS

Helmets and body protectors are tagged (sticky tag attached) to show they meet the required NZPCA safety standards. This must be done for helmet or back protector to be used at PC rallies or any Pony Club, ESNZ or NZMGA events.

Tagging can be done by the branch Head Coach who will first check that gear meets the safety requirements.

  • This is not a required uniform item, but if riders are training or competing on cross country they MUST wear a red tagged back protector.
  • Current red taggable standards: BETA EN13158 2009 Level 3 (or newer) or ASTM F1937
  • Please ask around as back protectors are sometimes available second hand or can be borrowed for XC rallies
