ECBOPAA WINTER POSTAL SHOOT

The ECBOPAA strongly encourage the participation of all archers, be they affiliated to the Archery NZ or not. We strongly feel that by giving archers the opportunity to participate in friendly competitions gives them the encouragement needed to join Archery NZ when the time is right for them.

ECBOPAA have participated in a winter postal shoot over five months throughout the winter season for a number of years. The shoot also gives youth and senior archers a focus over the winter months when it is harder to shoot the longer distances. The winter shoot is based on an accumulated score over the entire five months. Each month, the previous accumulated score will be added to the current month’s score for a RUNNING TOTAL.

Due to the limited number of youth in the ECBOPAA region, there are only two different age divisions for youth for this shoot: Teen and Pre-teen. Youth in the U14 and U11 are asked to shoot at the shorter distances below. All other archers shoot at 18m. This gives the younger youth a head start on the older juniors, but also allows them to compete against them.

Youth Archers in the Archery NZ U11 class shoot the rounds at 10m.

Youth Archers in the Archery NZ U14 class shoot the rounds at 14m.

All other age classes shoot the rounds at 18m.

If a youth is 12 years or younger on the 1st of MaY, they enter the Pre-teen Division. If they are 13 years or older on the 1st of May, they enter the Teen Division.

If an archer is 50 years or older on the 1st of May, they will be entitled to shoot in the Masters Division if they wish to.

All rounds are 60 arrows each.

Archers may shoot the postal shoot for the month as many times as they wish during the month within a minor tournament situation (club shoot is fine). All scores must be witnessed. Scores will be recorded each day of shoot on a recording sheet held at each club range (avalable from the Shoot Co-ordinator), where an independent witness will record the score. At the end of each month, the recording sheet will be obtained by the club contact, who will then verify the highest scores for each of their club members from the recording sheet. The results are not expected to be sent in each month on this recording sheet; it is only a tool for the club contacts to ensure that they have all scores shot each month and a method to ensure that all scores are shot within the competition rules.

A fee of $10.00 applies to all participants per entry. ECBOPAA members will be eligible for ECBOPAA medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings from ECBOPAA members in each division. All other participants will be eligible for generic archery medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd OVERALL placings in each division. Competitors must submit at least three scores within the four-month period to be eligible for any medals.

This competition is email-based, and scores must be emailed to the Shoot Co-ordinator at [email protected] by the 7th day of the following month of the shoot by a delegate in your club. Any scores received after this date will be accepted at the discretion of the Shoot Co-ordinator. Please indicate bow type and age for Teen and Pre-teen, Senior, Masters, etc.

All fees are to be paid at the same time that the FIRST MONTH’S RESULTS are due, to the following bank account:

ANZ Whakatane, 01 0486 0101484 00 (please email these details to Moira Lavender-Ashburn at

     [email protected]).

All ECBOPAA club participants must be members of ECBOPAA at the time of submitting scores.

To be eligible for ECBOPAA medals, ECBOPAA members must shoot all rounds sent in on ECBOPAA club grounds.
