Christmas picnic & kids prizegiving
Just before Christmas we like to get everyone together for a casual picnic/BBQ. Each year the committee will plan an event to suit families in particular, but we try to make it something that can be enjoyed by all members.
When?
Usually towards the end of November or early December. Check the calendar for the latest dates.
Photos from previous years are in our Photo Gallery.
Picnic/BBQ
The club will supply some meat for the BBQ and a few extras - everyone brings along whatever else they want to eat.
We might have some old fashioned games - what will it be this year? Tug-o-war, 3-legged races, a treasure hunt, a lolly scramble or something else?
Santa usually makes appearance sometime during the picnic — in the past he's used a variety of modes of transport to reach us — once on the back of a motorbike, another time on horseback and even a fire engine.
Kids prizegiving
In keeping with the family theme of this event, this is a great time to award the kids prizes and trophies for the year.
There are several kids and family trophies on offer - many based on the catch forms submitted through out the year. Some kids might also be "re-awarded" trophies won at competitions earlier in the year.
Download a 'Catch form' to register your latest catch — it doesn't matter whether you caught it during a competition or club trip or just while you were out out on a family fishing trip. The catch forms are collected each Club Night and are used for monthly spot prizes as well as calculating annual trophies and prizes for the Kids Prizegiving.
Trophy categories include
- Champion Junior Angler
- Junior Champion - Saltwater Angler

- Heaviest Terakihi
