Members are reminded to clean all footwear and poles after each tramp to help prevent the spread of Kauri Dieback.  Don't just rely on boot cleaning stations to do the job.

June - December 2022

Leaders and drivers please note:  The suggested rate for passengers is now 15 cents per/km.


Saturday 28th:              Change of venue due to the duck shooting season closing the wetlands to walkers.

                                        Maketu:  Beach Walk - Bedisloe Park to Newdicks Beach and return.  Easy.  Or continue on                                                  around the headland to the Maketu Beachside Cafe.  Easy/moderate. (Some rock hopping                                                  required)  Cafe lunch or at the nearby park.  After lunch a short walk up and back Kotukutuku                                              Gully - a locally made walkway that has replaced a rubbish filled gully.

                                        Start - 8.30 from Katikati.  Contact leader Peter L-J by text or phone on 027 634 4741 by                                                      7.30pm on Friday.


Sunday 12th:                  Otanewainuku – Trig and waterfall.  8.30am start.  Trig – moderate 1.5 hrs return    Waterfall –                                           easy 2hrs return   Easy option: waterfall track.  Leader:   Ian M - (07 863 7927)

Saturday 20th:  Change of plan.        Wairere Falls track.  4 hour return. Friday - Sunday: 30/9 – 2/10          Raglan 3-day trip.  Nikau Caves – Peter L-J  027 634 474,  Mt Karioi – Laraine H                                            021 073 7084.  Start time:   The intention is to go to Raglan on Friday, to be ready for the walk                                            start on Saturday.  Grade:  Caves – a good level of fitness is required, 20m section requires                                                  crawling, feet will get wet.  Mt Karioi – moderate (steady uphill, some chains and ladders)

Saturday 27th                     Christmas Do - Dickeys Flat using Max McLean’s facilities. 

NOTE:  Club members are encouraged to participate in contributing trip/tramp ideas, and we are always looking for new territory.  If you can’t attend the planning meetings, at least tell Laraine or Maddy if you know of an interesting walk.  If you are prepared to lead a walk, even better – our more experienced members would be delighted to help you.
