Emerald City Kickball brings its mix of fun, community and competition to Rainbow Games 2026 across two days.

All identities and experience levels are welcome. Whether you play regularly or have never kicked a ball before, there is a place for you on the field.

DAY ONE: Saturday 31 October: Learn it. Play it. Earn your seed.

New to kickball? Start with one of our Give-It-A-Go sessions — a playful introduction to the sport with everything you need to get kicking. No pressure, just good vibes. Meet some mates, learn the ropes and get on the field. Already an Emerald City Kickballer? Time for a little interstate rivalry.

Saturday's competition will establish the rankings and seed our Australian teams for Sunday's tournament play.

DAY TWO: Sunday 1 November:

Turn up the heat. We'll start Sunday with another Give-It-A-Go session, particularly welcoming Rainbow Games participants whose other sports have wrapped up and want to try something new. Then it's your choice.

💚 KEEP IT SOCIAL - Jump into an opt-in Social game and enjoy kickball at your own pace.

🔥 TAKE YOUR CHANCES - Step into Tournament play alongside our Australian Kickballers and see how you fare. Saturday's rankings set the ladder as teams play for glory, glitter and the bragging rights as 2026 Rainbow Games Kickball Champions.

HOW TO REGISTER:

Choose how you’re joining.

  • INDIVIDUAL OR BUDDIES: Register yourself and be teamed up. JRegister on your own and we'll help find the right way for you to play — whether that's joining a team, keeping it Social or taking your chances in Tournament play.
  • TEAM: Register your team. One team contact completes the team registration form, then receives a player registration link to send to the rest of the team. Each player uses that link to register, provide their details and pay their own registration and sport fees.

REGISTRATION COSTS

Total cost for Kickball: $89 per player

This includes:

  • Rainbow Games Registration Fee: $69
  • Kickball Sport Fee: $20

Your Rainbow Games registration includes:

  • Ticket to the Opening Ceremony on Thursday 29 October
  • Ticket to the Closing Event on Sunday 1 November
  • Access to the arts, culture and social programme throughout the Games
  • Opportunity to compete for medals and represent your community with pride
  • Player accreditation pass
  • A contribution to the Rangatahi Legacy Initiative, supporting future generations of LGBTQI+ youth in sport

Rather than spreading players too thinly across separate divisions, we're shaping the tournament around the people actually joining us — creating meaningful competition, plenty of opportunities to play and one great Emerald City experience.

Learn the basics, meet other new players and try the sport in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.

Give-It-A-Go sessions will run across the weekend, giving Rainbow Games participants multiple opportunities to discover kickball.

Found your new favourite sport but competition isn't your thing?

Join our opt-in Social game. The classic Emerald City experience — social, supportive and seriously fun.

  • 🔥 Take your chances: Ready to turn up the heat?

New and experienced players can step into Tournament play, where Saturday's seeded Australian teams meet Sunday's challengers.
