Saturday combines Give-It-A-Go sessions for new players with seeding games for our Australian teams. Those results establish the Tournament rankings for Sunday.

Sunday begins with another Give-It-A-Go before players can choose to Keep it Social or Take their chances in Tournament play.

Tournament games use ECKB's National League Rules and are time-capped, with the Head Referee able to extend play to finish an inning fairly. Tag-up will not be used at Rainbow Games.

The draw and schedule will be released on 20 October 2026, one week after entries close and final numbers are confirmed. This will include notification about composite teams if you have registered as an individual.

Games will use Emerald City Kickball Australia's National League Rules, with tournament settings chosen to create a consistent and accessible format for the mix of players joining us from across Australia and Aotearoa.

Tag-up will not be used at Rainbow Games.

If you're new to kickball, don't worry about studying a rulebook. We'll teach you what you need to know before you play

• Balls and bases will be provided.

• Field markers will be lines or cones, depending upon field restrictions

• Players are encouraged to wear team-colour-identifying clothes (team colours will be assigned in the coming months).

• Non-metal studded shoes are ok but discouraged if you are not familiar with using them.

Kickball is similar to baseball or softball: instead of using a ball and bat, the pitcher rolls a large, rubber playground ball to the kicker, who kicks it and runs the bases in a softball diamond pattern.

Teams score points, or “runs”, by running around the bases and reaching home plate.  The fielding team ends each kicking turn, or “inning”, by recording three outs.  Teams take turns kicking and fielding, swapping each time the fielding team records three outs.  Games last the shorter of five innings or approximately 30 minutes.

Nope — everyone is welcome. Register as an individual and we'll help find the right way for you to play, bring up to two buddies, or register a full squad of 10+.

Within Emerald City, players are placed into new teams each season, so meeting a fresh group of people is part of the fun.

No! We will teach you all the basic skills of Kickball before you give it a go in the scratch match rounds on Day One (Saturday).

• Sports clothes/athletic wear with closed-toe sports shoes (feel free to make it as camp (or not) as you’d like!).
