2024 start of the season is May 27th (Week 5 of Term 2) and ends 12th August.

Y1-4 Netball is split into Y1/2, and Y3/4.  It usually runs from early Term Two and half way through Term 3 and ends with a Fun Day on the last Sunday. Usually Y1/2 start at 3.45pm, followed by Y3/4 at 4.45pm. They play at the Selwyn Sports Centre, indoors at Rolleston. There are three options;

  • Monday 
  • Tuesday  
  • Thursday  

Sessions consist of a skills component followed by a fun game.

Parents are responsible for getting children to and from the courts, we suggest working with other parents to car-pool, and there is a space to note this at the bottom of the form.

Mother Earth futureFERNS offers four different year groups for our junior Netball programme.

Mother Earth futureFERNS progresses players though modified formats of Netball that recognises their stage of physical and mental development. The aim is not only to grow their Netball abilities but also to help with their overall physical literacy which includes confidence, motivation, knowledge and understanding and physical competence.

YEAR 1 AND 2 PROGRAMME

Introduces Netball to 5-6 year olds. The aim is to develop fundamental movement and basic Netball skills. Playing 4 v 4 allows the players to pass, catch and shoot from day one.

YEAR 3 AND 4 PROGRAMME

Year 3 & 4 is designed to be fast and fun, maximising participation and touches of the ball. With modified equipment and less players on the court, in 5 v 5 the game is less complicated.
