Hawks League Term 3 2026

We’re excited to bring Hawks League back for Term 3, continuing to provide a fun, competitive, and development-focused basketball experience for our young players.

At Selwyn Hawks, our programmes are guided by four core values: Development, Teamwork, Spirit of the Game, and Community. Hawks League has been designed with these at the center.

*Hawks League welcomes players aged 9 to 14 years old.

​​​​​​​The programme is delievered on Thursday nights, between 6:00PM to 8:30PM at the Selwyn Sports Centre. There will be an announcement for the specific session times for your young players once the final registration numbers have been determined.

🦅 Term 3 Format

For Term 3, Hawks League will run as a competitive programme (Talons Grade only).

Due to many of our coaches supporting teams in the Winter Competition, we will not be offering the Eyas (developmental) grade this term. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to bringing it back in future programmes.

🔥 Hawks League – Talons Grade (Competitive)

Hawks League Talons is designed for players who are ready for game-based learning and regular competition.

Players will be grouped into two age divisions:

• 9–11 years old   (6:00PM to 7:15PM)
• 12–14 years old (7:15PM to 8:30PM)

Competition runs for 8 weeks

Start Date:  Thursday 31 July 2026

End Date:   Thursday 24 September 2026
Duration:    8 weeks in Term 3
Venue:        Selwyn Sports Centre

What to expect:

• Weekly structured games
• Coach-led teams (balanced weekly to ensure fair competition)
• Emphasis on teamwork, decision-making, and game understanding
• A fun, competitive environment grounded in respect and sportsmanship

🤝 Team Formation

To ensure fair, competitive, and enjoyable games, teams will be created by our coaches each week.

This approach allows us to:

• Balance skill levels across teams
• Encourage teamwork with different players
• Keep games close, engaging, and positive
• Support the development of all players

*Where possible, we will consider one friend request, however team balance will always remain the priority.

👤 Who is this for?

Hawks League Talons is best suited for players who:

• Have some basketball experience (school, club, or previous programmes)
• Understand the basic rules and flow of the game
• Enjoy competition and game play
• Are ready to challenge themselves in a supportive environment

*Note: Hawks League aims to provide opportunities for players     who are continuing to develop their skills and confidence in

 the game. We kindly encourage players who are not in any A-grade squad to join and develop your skills further.  To those already competing for an A squad or A-grade level team in

 the current CBA Winter Competition, please support this goal by

 allowing developing players the opportunity to participate. This

 particular run is for developing players.
