Selwyn Hawks Hoops is an 8-week programme that runs during the school term. It is aimed at beginner players who want to develop the basics of basketball and an understanding and love of the game. Each session is 45mins and will have fun skills and games.
Classes have a maximum capacity of 22 players and are currently offered at four Selwyn Venues. Tuesdays at Darfield High School, Wednesdays at Lincoln Event Centre, Thursdays at West Melton Community Centre & Fridays at Selwyn Sports Centre (Rolleston). We also offer Girls only sessions at Rolleston.
PLEASE NOTE THAT CLASS TIMES MAY CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF REGISTRATIONS WE RECEIVE.

The Girls Got Game Programme is a collaboration with Basketball New Zealand
It aims to engage young girls in basketball and encourage them to continue being active and enjoy basketball with their friends. GGG is a fun and friendly basketball programme for primary and intermediate school age girls. Basketball is a fantastic sport for girls, helping to develop movement and thinking skills in a fun social team environment.
GGG is based on Basketball New Zealand’s Kiwi Hoops programme but is modified to meet the needs and preferences of girls. It is a flexible programme and can be modified to suit the needs and resources of participants, schools and providers.
Run by female coaches, its major advantage over mixed programs is its focus on girls.
Due to the popularity of our free program, registration is compulsory. We are unable to support casual turnups for this session but can create a wait list. Should we get enough numbers from our wait list we will consider running another group and will contact you.
