FUNDING FOR REPRESENTATIVE SWIMMERS

If you are lucky enough to reach levels of competition in which you qualify to represent the club at South Island and National level competitions, Waverley Swimming Club will help you get there. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR RECEIVING FUNDING​​​​​​​
The reimbursement rate is dependent on the category of the meet attended.  To claim full reimbursement according to the categories outlined below, the swimmer or their family must fulfil the follwowing criteria:

1. The meet must fall under one of the categories detailed below,

2. Swimmer must have qualified for, and be competing in, a minimum of 3 events (excluding relays),

3. Swimmer must have been a fully paid member of Waverley Swimming Club for a minimum of 12 months,

4. During that 12 month period,  the swimmer or their family must 'give back' to the club and/or swimming by meeting at least THREE of the requirements listed below:

(FOR MINIMUM 12 MONTHS)

  • Regularly volunteer at local meets (Team Manager, Timekeeper, Marshalling etc)
  • Family member is a qualified and active Swimming Technical Official (IOT, JOS, Starter, Referee),
  • Family member is a member of the Waverley Swimming Club Committee or Competitive Sub-Committee,
  • Family Member on the Swimming Southland Board,
  • Regular Coaching Assistant at WSC Club Night - parent or child,
  • Family participates in the Club Night Attendance Desk roster,
  • Family must be actively involved in the annual fundraising activities of the club.

If a swimmer fails to meet the criteria for full funding/reimbursement, they will only be eligible to receive the $200 Flight reimbursement for each meet attended, provided they have been a fully paid member of Waverley Swimming Club for a minimum of 12 months.

FUNDING AMOUNTS (reimbursed to eligible swimmers):

Category A:

DIV II - NAGs - NZ Opens - NZ Short Course
RECEIVE:

  • 50% Of Meet Costs (Food, Accomodation, Local Travel)
  • $200 towards flights if travelling beyond Southland/Otago

Category B:

South Island Short Course - South Island Long Course
RECEIVE:

  • 40% Of Meet Costs (Food, Accomodation, Local Travel)
  • $200 towards flights if travelling beyond Southland/Otago
