PRUDENCE POOLE

Prue started training at an older age than most in the squad - but hard work always pays off - she was brought up to speed and went on to become one of NZ's top sprinters.
While a specialist Freestyler - Prue was also accomplished at all the other strokes.
She broke her first of many strokes in 1973 in the Under 14 400M Freestyle and went into dominate the womens Freestyle events in Southland until she moved to Dunedin in 1977.
At the 1976 NZ Open Champs in Dunedin, Prue came 2nd in the 50M Freestyle.
She also represented Southland at Otago/Southland, South Island Champs, NZ Age Group Champs, NZ Winter Champs and NZ Opens.


ANDREW HAMILTON

Another swimmer to make his mark in the 1980's was Andrew Hamilton. He was also a member of the young Southland Team to set a NZ Junior Record in the 4 x 100M Freestyle Relay. 
Andrew was only 13 at the time.
In 1984, at the NZ Age Group Champs he won 1 Gold and 4 Silver Medals. 
1985, Andrew qualified for NZ Open Champs as a 14 Year Old.
1986, at NZ Age Group Champs, Andrew won an astounding 6 Gold and 1 Silver Medal - breaking Richard Tappers Record for the 100M Freestyle.
1988, Andrew again broke Richards record in the 100M Freestyle recording a time of 48.93. Also that year, but now swimming for a Canterbury Club, Andrew won the Mens 100M Freestyle and got 2nd in 200M Freestyle.

CRAIG JONES

Craig began his swimming career at Waverley but moved to Foveaux Club.
He was a member of the relay teamt that broke the NZ record for the 4 x 100M Freestyle Relay.
Also was the Backstroke swimmer in the 4 x 100M Medley Team.
At the 1984 NZ Age Group Champs, Craig won 3 Gold and 1 Bronze.
In 1986, Craig was named in the NZ Team to compete in The Australian Winter Champs.
In 1987, Craig moved from Invercargill to Auckland and joined the Mt Roskill Swim Club and continued to do well, winning National Titles and many minor placings.
