2020 is a year to remember, the pandemic COVID-19 has effected not only New Zealand but worldwide. The lockdown announced by the Labour Government at Level 4 was set on 25th March 2020.  With COVID-19 this effected the start of sport and therefore making the 2020 season short.  Netball started on 25th July 2020, with a few teams throughout the Wairarapa choosing not to enter teams. In 2020 Featherston decided that it would be costly to register the 3 senior teams and concentrate on starting the Featherston juniors instead. The senior teams will be back in 2021 and we will consider volunteers to support the club in 2021 with the junior teams.

The Featherston Sports Hub has grown considerably, with a few sponsors coming on board to support the codes, namely Benn Milne and Erin Nesdale of Property Brokers Featherston.  Property Brokers have been a huge support with uniforms for Featherston Netball seniors and sponsoring the prize giving of 2019.  The Featherston Rugby Club are working with Property Brokers on a 3-5 year deal for the code partners of the Featherston Sports Hub.  Thanks to Marc van de Loo who is the Chairman of the Featherston RFC and voted in as the President at the AGM in November 2020, he is currently working with the sponsors.

Sports New Zealand have also supported all our sports with the Resilience Fund, which has been a huge support.

We are not sure of how long or what the COVID-19 pandemic has in store for the world, but it could be a while before a vaccine is found.
