Kia'Ora Whanau,

This year 2021 we have seen a growing number of junior registrations, a huge plus for the club.  However we re struggling with the uniform numbers.  Thanks to grants from The Featherston Community Board and some fundraising in 2020 we were able to purchase a few more.  We are looking to purchase uniforms for our ages 5-7, maybe black shorts and royal/navy shirts, as these babies are the future of the club.  Our tamariki ages 5-7 years of age are currently playing in the South Wairarapa Competiton at Kuranui College in Greytown on Saturday mornings.  The rest of our teams are playing in the Wairarapa Netball Competiion in Masterton on Tuesday after school.

We will be fundraising in support of our juniors to enable them to play netball, thereby assisting those families strugglng financially to help avoid any financial barriers.  If you can donate whether big or small, it would be most appreciated.  Thank you to Tony & Jenni Roberts who have donated to help another child play netball in 2021.

The fees for the juniors are ages 8-14 $50.00 and ages 5-7 $20.00.  You may direct credit the funds to our bank account:

ALL OUR JUNIORS ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO THE FEATHERSTON NETBALL CLUB, THEY ARE THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB AND THE FEATHERSTON SPORTS HUB.

The Junior 2021 Season

This year was a very exciting season, where our junior numbers doubled from 2020.  However due to COVID, it cut the season short for most teams in the Wairarapa.  Sargent Builders Ltd was huge asset both in support and financially.  New hoodies for our new junior members were purchased and worn with pride.  We received our new uniforms from Australia when the season ended.  We would like to express our pride with all our junior teams, they all competed and gave it everything.  We managed to get a friendly game in with AIMS Intermediate team in Upper Hutt who travelled to Featherston, they are coached by the New Zealand representative John Fono, we played 3 friendly games with our Featherston Sargent Builders Team 1 on Sunday, 25th July 2021 in Featherston and we hope to have these games on annual basis.

All our junior teams played and enjoyed their games on Tuesday nights in Masterton and thanks to our wonderful parents/whanau who took their time out to support with transport.  We would like to thank the South Wairarapa District Council with the NZ Sport Rural Travel Fund for juniors and youth, which was granted for 2020-2021.  This grant helped travel expenses for our parents/whanau.

We proud of our ages 5-7 year olds who played in the Year 3/4 in the South Wairarapa Competition.  There was two 7 year olds and the rest were 5 and 6 years of age.  This year was a trial to give our little babies experience playing on a full size netball court, they played 5 a side netball on Saturday mornings in Greytown on the Kuranui College netball courts.

Congratulations to our Featherston Sargent Builders Team 1 who are undefeated and took out the championship of their Wairarapa Year 7/8 Section 2 grade.  These young ladies registered under Featherston Sargent Builders Senior Development Team in the senior competition on Saturday in Senior 5 grade and won some of their games, gaining some senior experience especially for those of our girls leaving to start college in 2022.

Featherston Sargent Builders Junior Team 1 and Senior Development are as follows:

Lyric Clifton-Sinclair (Captain), Lilly Padlie (Vice Captain), Ane Pailate, Arini Aporo, Ashanti Hawkins, Bailey Newbould, Bobbie Gee Matenga, Chanel Parr, Leighabella Ginnane, Madison Taylor, Mirabelle Fesuiai-Wallace, Provynce Rogers and Shaia Taitapanui.

A special mention to our Ashanti Hawkins who made her presence with Featherston Netball from the Martinborough Netball Club, this young lady transferred to Featherston and a great asset.  Ashanti wanted to play in Masterton but her team in  Martinborough were playing in the South Wairarapa Competition.  We welcomed her with open arms, Ashanti is an MVP and very versatile with loads of talent.  Ashanti was pushed up to our Senior Team who were playing in Premier 3 and excelled with our ladies.  Ashanti won the 'Outstanding Young Player' with our senior team and also won MVP with the Sargent Builder Senior Development Team.

We would like to thank our sponsors:  Sargent Builders Ltd, Tidy Slabs Wairarapa, Brac & Bow Featherston, C'est Cheese Featherston, The Offering Greytown, Frucor, Property Brokers Featherston and Supervalue Featherston.
