LONG JUMP

Athletes to line up about 17 (to 21) paces from the metre (or white) board.
Athletes run to the board, and take off on ONE foot, to land in the pit with TWO feet.
Athletes to try to throw themselves forward, because the measurement is taken from the mark in the pit that is closest to the board (no matter what part of the body leaves the mark.)
Athletes are to be encouraged to walk out of the back of the pit because if they walk out to the side leaving the pit in front of their jump mark, then that becomes their mark for measuring! BUT if the leave out the front of the pit then it is a “no jump”.
Put the spike, with the tape threaded onto it, at the mark nearest the front of the pit, and take it back to the front of the board. That is their distance.
Athletes who use the coloured meter board have their jump measured from the front of whichever colour they jump from. Metre boards are to be used by athletes up to and including Grade 11.
If an athlete puts a "toe" over the white board it is a "no jump". Likewise, if a young athlete goes over the front of the metre board it is a "no jump".
