Jason Taylor
Kart Number: #96
Hometown: formerly Southbridge, now Kaikoura
Chassis/Engine: BRK Viper-Rotax Max
Given the heritage of Speedway racing within the Ellesmere County, it was probably a given that Jason Taylor was going to end up going fast in a sideways manner driving something; "Dad was a foundation member of the Ellesmere Motor Racing Club, so I grew up there (Ellesmere Raceway), and even helped build the toilet block between turns one and two" Taylor spent some time racing grasskarts, aspiring to one day race Speedway in some capacity, but the almighty dollar had always prevailed - until Speedway Karts came along!
Right off the bat, Taylor and his striking Green and black BRK chassis has proven to be a fierce competitor, a fact cemented by his third place finish at the recent Autumn Dust Off at Moore Park. But within the pits, other racers will tell you about the guy who will casually wander over and then do his darndest to help fix whatever issue you may be trying to sort at that moment.
On race days, Taylor usually handles things alone, but is grateful for the support of wife Natalie and son Kieran, as well as his sponsors Kaikoura Auto Electric and BRK Karts NZ.
Asked if he had any words of wisdom, his response; "If not now, then when?"
I think we can agree with that!
