Rob Davey

Kart Number: 36

Hometown: Christchurch

Chassis/Engine: Arrow AX9/Rotax Max

Take a walk down the pits at any Christchurch Speedway Karts event, and the common theme you'll find is "family". That rings especially true for Rob Davey, where the racing itself may just rank secondary to spending quality time with daughter Zoe and father Bruce. In fact, Davey's own involvement has come completely off the back of Zoe trying it out first.

That's not to say Davey isn't a tough competitor; from his first time in the seat, the Christchurch Timber Merchant has proven to be more than adept behind the wheel, and dedicated when it comes to his racing and the category in general. Wretched reliability in the past no doubt prevented better results from forthcoming. But with reliability question marks now thought to be behind him, along with added laps from Modified Sprint competition, you can always expect to see the 36 right in the mix.

In the pits, Zoe and Bruce are always on hand to offer assistance, and Rob is especially grateful for them, and everyone in the Speedway Karts community for welcoming the whole Davey family in, and the support to get them to where they're at right now.

Rob doesn't have any words of wisdom as such, only a summation: "There is no better feeling as a Dad than watching your speed mad daughter kicking it with the adults and living her best life".
