Rod Dreaver
Kart Number: 931
Hometown: Lincoln
Chassis/Engine: Birel/Rotax Max
No matter how big the field is, it's pretty easy to pick out Rod Dreaver in the bunch - just look for the kart with the left front wheel hovering quite a bit higher off the track than the rest!
That sums up Dreaver's style; Always wide open, always spectacular! A three year veteran in the category and all round Motorsport "tragic", "Rockin' Rod" is kindly regarded as the type of driver who'll race anyone hard but fair, and shake your hand in the pits after a good battle.
Another racer who can't always drop everything to go racing, sporadic starts for the Lincoln Apiarist over the last couple years have been a mixed bag. Dreaver looked to be in good form on his first visit to Greenstone Park, Greymouth during the War of the Wings support weekend, only to lose a wheel at an inopportune time. A follow-up trip to Blenheim resulted in a seized engine in the first heat. With all nuts and bolts now torqued up firmly, and a fully rebuild Rotax Max beside him, Dreaver will no doubt be racing his way to the front once more.
Dreaver lists himself as his only crew member, but racing with son Jamie is a big part of the whole deal. Rod is also thankful to wife Jo for her support.
Rod doesn't really have any words of wisdom, so we've come up with one for him: Leave The Front Left At Home!
