Greymouth Senior Athletic Club Awards 2010

Josh Komen, Holly Robinson and Adin Martinus were Greymouth Senior Athletic Club’s outstanding performers of the 2010 season. In a wonderful season full of highlights these three athletes were rewarded with multiple trophies.
Komen bounced backed from serious illness to secure the prestigious Eder Cup for the second time with his NZ Champs open men 800 metre silver medal performance. He also won the S McDonell Cup as the Club’s most promising athlete to go with his WC and club 800m record.
Robinson’s season included 3 gold medals and NZ records for AWD athletes in her throwing events at NZ Champs, collected awards ranging from the most improved and most outstanding W16 athlete to best female javelin and discus thrower, also the Trevor Sweeney Cup for best Female performance below senior.
Martinus’ season exploded with M16 WC and club records for 400 and 800m, Canterbury 400m title , 4th placing in NZ Champs 400m and gold as apart of the Canterbury 4 x400m relay team. He collected the Charteris Cup for best all round performer, most outstanding M16 Athlete and Harry Cloake Trophy for best male performance below senior.
Club President Jack O’Connor invited those present to celebrate a wonderful season which included a fantastic Mahar Cup victory for the West Coast team, numerous Canterbury titles and placings, relay records, success at secondary school level and with masters at Canterbury and NZ level with Linda Beach outstanding. He commented his two individual highlights were having 32 locals officiating at the Mahar Cup and seeing seven M16 athletes fill all the lanes for a 200 metre club race which represented a strong growing club.
