This Selection and Training Policy applies to all senior players who register with Kumeū Cricket Club as individual players, pay the individual registration fee, and are available for selection across the Club’s selection-based Senior Club Teams: - Premier Men, Premier Reserve Men, Premier Three and Championship 5.

By registering as an individual player for our Club Teams, you acknowledge and agree that you are subject to this Selection Policy and must be available for selection across the relevant Club Teams. Registration does not guarantee selection in a particular team or grade.

It is each player’s responsibility to read and understand the Club’s selection requirements.

These requirements are intended to provide a clear, consistent and fair selection process for all players.

All players must be registered with the Club through PlayHQ and be fully financial to be eligible for selection.

Any outstanding playing fees from previous seasons must be paid in full before a player is eligible for selection. The Club’s No Pay, No Play policy applies.​​​​​​​

Selection Policy 2026/27

Selection Policy

The Selection Committee will select the best possible teams each week, taking into consideration:

• Players must be fully financial
• Players must be registered with the club on PlayHQ.
• Team balance and the requirements of each team and match.
• Player performance and current form.
• Availability, with preference given where appropriate to players available for both days of a two-day match, particularly for Premier Men.
• Training attendance and commitment.
• Attitude, sportsmanship and conduct.
• Player development and future pathway opportunities.
• The overall requirements and best interests of the Club.

Selection priority is given to Premier Men, followed by Premier Reserve Men, Premier Three and Championship 5.

Where possible, preference will be given to players who train regularly.

Players may move between Club Teams throughout the season in accordance with the Club’s selection requirements. No player is guaranteed a position in a particular team or grade.

Selection Decisions

Selection decisions are made by the Selection Committee in accordance with the Selection policy and the requirements of the Club.

Players are welcome to discuss their own selection with the Selection Committee. Players may not challenge or query the selection of another player.

Teams will normally be selected on the Thursday prior to the first day of the match, with team announcements and match information shared later that evening through TeamReach.

Sponsorship, Contributions and Other Support

The Club greatly values and appreciates support provided by players, families and members through sponsorship, donations, voluntary assistance or other contributions.

However, sponsorship, financial contributions, voluntary assistance or contributions provided in lieu of fees do not create any entitlement, expectation or guarantee of selection, continued placement in a particular team, or promotion to a higher grade.

All selection decisions will be made consistently in accordance with this Selection Policy and the playing and development requirements of the Club.

Team captains may provide input on player performance and form, but do not have voting powers.

Player Responsibilities and Expectations

• Every player is responsible to update their own availability on TeamReach by Wednesday for the upcoming weekend’s games. If TeamReach is not updated, it will be assumed you are unavailable.
• Play in the grade you are selected for.
• No player is guaranteed a position in a particular team or grade.
  
• Follow the players’ code of conduct (Law 42) — breaches may affect selection.
• Players may move between grades based on performance, form, team balance, or development opportunities, financial status with the club.
• Where possible, selection reasons will be explained to the player concerned.
• Players may not challenge or query another players selection
• Must wear the Kumeu Cricket official uniform which can be purchased from our official supplier Cricket Express
