Papatoetoe Athletics Club

PRIZE GIVING

Medals are awarded for overall age group placings in the club championship.
This is determined by total points gained in all club championship events.
(See “About Club Championship”)
Record Certificates are also presented to those who have broken or equalled  Records at this competition.
Medals are also awarded for overall season placings, based on the club night points system, (See “About the Programme and Points system”), with the overall winner in each age group also being presented with a trophy, (to be returned for the following season).
Their name is engraved on these trophies, so they then become part of club history.
Each athlete who has met the “Minimum Participation Requirement”
(*explained below), is presented with a “Certificate of Achievement”.
On the back of these will be a record of all their placings for the season –
That is, placings in all the applicable categories, and overall age group season placing. Total season points will also be added to the certificates.
There are also numerous trophies awarded for other things, including various categories of “Most Points”, awards for “Most outstanding athletes”, “Merit” awards, and “Special” awards.

The 7 – 17 year age groups’ events will return to these 4 categories:
(LONG) DISTANCE, TOTAL TRACK, TOTAL FIELD, TOTAL OVERALL POINTS

THE MINIMUM PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT
(ELIGIBILITY FOR SEASON PLACINGS/CERTIFICATES/MEDALS/TROPHIES)
Athletes must have participated in at least 9 (out of 18) club nights over the season – including at least 4 (out of 9) club nights in the 2nd half of the season (that is, after the Xmas/New Year break).
If an athlete doesn’t meet this minimum amount of participation, then their season points will become invalid, and therefore won’t count.
NOTE: Allowance will be made if significant non-participation is due to
Injury/sickness/personal crisis – if we are notified about it.
NOTE: Club Championship achievements are not affected by this M.P.R.
