SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutes may be made as required so long as the substitution complies with Bowls NZ & Centre Rules. The full conditions for Substitutes are available on the Centre Website here.
Substitutes may only be made for an original team member, i.e. the players who played in the first game of a Club competition. From that point on substitutes may be made as necessary provided that:-
- For a fours or triples team at least two of the original team members play in every game.
- For a pairs team at least one of the original team members plays in every game.
- Substitutes cannot be made for a singles player.
- Fair play conditions are adhered to
- A substitute may not play as a Skip
- Substitutes should be of equal or lesser ability than that of the player to be substituted.
- A substitute will not be allowed if the player concerned is unavailable due to entry in another competition
- Approval of the Match Committee must be obtained prior to the substitution being made
If you are unsure of the circumstances when a substitute may be required, seek advice. The Event Organiser or an Umpire should be able to help.
