ENROLMENT

Enrolment is now closed for 2026 out of zone Years 9-13 students.

In zone enrolment is still open for all year levels

PNGHS Enrolment Timeline

Before completing the on-line enrolment application, please check these important key points which reflect Ministry of Education and Palmerston North Girls’ High School processes regarding the management of in-zone enrolments. Here is the link to the Ministry of Education enrolment scheme.

We receive more enrolments that we have places for. We have an obligation to ensure that in zone applications are legitimate

  • Genuine In-Zone Residence Required: All in-zone applications must demonstrate authentic and genuine living arrangements within the school zone. The school reserves the right to verify this and withdraw enrolment if the address is not genuine, regardless of when the application was made. Verification may include a site visit to the provided address.
  • Temporary Addresses for Enrolment: Using a temporary in-zone address solely to gain enrolment may lead to a review and annulment of the enrolment.
  • Post-Enrolment Address Changes: If a student moves out of zone after enrolling, and the board believes the initial in-zone address was used primarily for enrolment purposes, the enrolment will be reviewed.
  • Boarding Situations: The PNGHS Board of Trustees accepts genuine boarding situations. If the family home is nearby, it is unlikely to be considered genuine. The adult the student is boarding with will become the main point of contact for the school.
  • Temporary Initial Addresses: If parents provide a temporary in-zone address upon arrival while seeking permanent housing, they are advised that moving out of zone before the student's first day will disqualify the enrolment. The address on the application is considered the address at the time of enrolment, and the Ministry of Education considers enrolment to occur upon commencement of attendance.

Please also note that a key aspect of our enrolment processes includes whānau meeting with a senior staff member to ensure a smooth transition. All 2027 Year 9 students will have the opportunity to attend a Whānau Hui in November.

Tuesday 17 November and Wednesday 25 November – Year 8 Whānau Meetings. Caregivers will be emailed information about how to book an individual conference closer to the time.

Thursday 28 January 2027 – First day of school for all Year 9 students
