Visual Art Teacher - Junior Visual Imaging and Visual Art; Senior Photography and Design

Full time, fixed term maternity cover for the 2027 academic year

Our school is seeking an inspiring and collaborative teacher of visual imaging, photography and design. A strong background and ability to teach senior Visual Art would also be an asset.

We are a vibrant department and require a teacher to assist in our Art programme specialising primarily in Visual Imaging Y9 to 11, Photography and Design in senior school (state supporting strengths and subjects). We are a Google/Adobe school and experience with this is preferred. The successful applicant needs to be a team player, familiar with the relevant curriculum and NCEA assessment requirements and able to inspire and engage young women in this area. We have a well-resourced, collaborative Art Learning Area. Applicants should be prepared to play an active role in the co-curricular and professional life of the school.​​​​​​​

Science Teacher - Full-time, permanent position commencing at the beginning of the 2027 Academic Year

Palmerston North Girls' High School is seeking an inspiring and collaborative Science Teacher to join our well-resourced and high-performing department.

The successful candidate will be capable of teaching across various year levels. Please state your senior subject specialisms in your application; the ability to teach Physics and or Chemistry would be an advantage.

As a dedicated team player with interpersonal skills, you will be familiar with the junior science curriculum and NCEA assessment programmes. We are looking for an educator who can inspire and engage young women, fostering a passion for scientific inquiry. ​​​​​​​

Head of Social Sciences - Full-time, Permanent, 4 Management Units plus 1 MMA

The Position

We are seeking an experienced and visionary educator to lead our Social Sciences Department. This pivotal role requires a leader who can drive the implementation of new curriculum, assessment, and reporting processes, with a particular focus on compulsory Year 9 and 10 Social Studies for 2027 and Years 11, 12 and 13 from 2028.  You will lead a dedicated team of experienced teachers  and a department that offers a diverse range of programmes including Junior Social Studies, History, Geography, Senior Social Studies with Psychology, Tourism, and Classical Studies. Please state your senior teaching specialism.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to inspire and motivate a professional team through a change cycle.
  • Deep familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum, particularly at the Junior level (Years 9–10) and through to NCEA Level 3 and Scholarship. A willingness to keep abreast of the new developments in these areas.
  • A commitment to working within a Culturally Responsive and Relational Framework.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A willingness to contribute to the co-curricular and professional life of the school.
