RATANA RUGBY 2010

Well, the season has begun. Pre season training began about 4 weeks ago with good numbers turning up for training. Emphasis has been on fitness but now has turned slightly towards rugby skills as our pre season games are upon us.

We haven’t lost many players from last year with the biggest losses being Paul Bellis, Leon Mason and Terry Tanoa. Belly supposedly hung up his boots but we hear that they still may be close by; Leon left the home town to take up an opportunity of a lifetime in Australia and Terry is there to help the bro’s whenever the coaching staff needs him. The club thanks them all for the years they have given to Ratana rugby and wish them well in their future endeavours.

Pre season games have been arranged with the first being March 6th vs Paraparaumu at Paraparaumu.n We are hoping to make this game an annual encounter. The second pre season is against Stratford at Stratford on March 13. Both A’s and B’s will be playing here.

The season itself starts on April 10 with an away game for both teams- A’s vs Taihape at Taihape and the B’s at Waiouru vs Waiouru.

Watch out for the clubs new playing strip this year. All teams, including our junior teams will be playing in the same design with only the colour of the shorts differing.  The new strip should arrive before the start of the season.

Come along and support your club. Home town crowd is worth is weight in gold- the boys enjoy playing in front of a partisan crowd- they play with heart and wear the jersey with pride.
