This weekend the Juniors are taking part in their competition in Timaru. The South Otago team is Hayden & Clayton Sheppard and Ryan McCaughan (Paretai), Joe & Izzy Jenks (Katea), Molly Paterson, Millie Smith & Callum Brown (Town & Country).
Friday night saw the players take part in a Singles tournament – where Izzy, Hayden, Joe & Ryan all qualified. Ryan then went on to come runner-up to Matthew Tosh from Southland.
Today the players have taken part in the Rep Pairs Tournament where Ryan McCaughan and Hayden Sheppard have made their way into the final, taking out the event 11 - 4 over a Southland pair.Well done to all of these Juniors – this is the best results that South Otago Juniors have had for a number of years now, so great to see. A great team effort. These players are the future of South Otago bowls and great to see them competing at levels outside of their area.
JOLLY QUADRANGULAR - POSTPONED
Cliff Ormandy, president of North Otago Indoor Bowls, passed away on Monday and his funeral is on Saturday 26 June. Cliff has been involved with NOIB for many years.

Summerset NZIB National Championships
Congraulations, and commiserations to David and Colleen Fenton, who were runners up in the Fours at the National Championships on Saturday 19 June.
Combining with Otagos John and Jacqui Wiiliams, the Fenton/Wiiliams team had a fantastic run, sweeping aside the competition to make it all the way to final.
They made a great start in the final, jumping out to an early lead. Some steady bowls played by the opposption clawed this deficeit back to be 7 all on the last end, where John Williams had the last shot of the match to potentially win the title. Unfortunaltly he was wide with his bowl and our team went down 8-7 in a fantastic game of bowls.
A huge congratulations to the team on their performance. While it's gutting to lose a final, it's still a monumental acheivement to reach one and to be in with the chance of winning a National title right up unitl the very end.

South Otago Win Womens 8's
The South Otago Women's 8's team helf their nerve in the final rounds to win a close fought battle in Alexandra over the weekend of 15 & 16 May.
Southland looked to be the team to beat after the first two rounds, looking strong and heading off South Otago marginally. However, Southland faultered and South Otago remained consistent, to be leading going into Sundays last round.
Our Fours once again were the teams strong point, taking maximum points in nearly all the rounds. This coupled with strong Pairs results, pushed the team out of reach from a galant last minute charge from Otago.
Well done ladies, a thoroughly desreved win.
