Under 13 Softball 

The real softball competition kicks off at this age group! 

These kids can bunt and steal bases, they play full softball rules with umpires and full catchers kits.  It's important at this age that they have their own gloves, and attend trainings.  While fun and participation are still the focus at this age (and at any age really!), it's important for safety reasons that kids learn and develop good ball skills. 

Going in to 2023/2024 season, we are aiming to have enough teams in Franklin to host this competition domestically!  This means games will either be at Waiuku Rugby Park or Pukekohe Softball Fields.  We'll likely play 'mixed teams' so boys and girls in the same team, and new players are most definitely welcome.  If not enough numbers, we'll have to enter into the Auckland Softball Association competition which means travel further afield so make sure you join us and tell your kids friends too :-) 

Fee's are just $80 for the full season, we provide full uniforms, catchers gear, bats, balls and training equipment. We can help you with sizing and purchasing for an appropriate glove as well before the season starts.  Once the teams are formed, your team Coach or Manager will be in touch to introduce themselves and notify you of a training night (weeknight, Rugby Park and trainings run for approx 1 hour).  Games will start on Saturday 28th October, we break over Xmas and return back for games after Auckland Anniversay in January/February.  The season finishes at the end of March.  

Kids at this grade will be eligible to trial for Franklin Softball Rep teams - they might attend national and local tournaments which are loads of fun.  

Parents, we really need some support with scoring these games - if you're someone who can attend most games and are happy to help, please make yourself known to us so we can run you through a scoring clinic training.  We are so grateful for any support :-)
