ABOUT US
At Wellington High School, sport is more than just competition — it’s a celebration of our core values: Whānau, Excellence, Respect, and Ora. Our sporting culture reflects who we are as a community, where teamwork, fair play, and integrity are at the heart of every game.
We believe that sport is a vital part of our students’ holistic education, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and life skills that extend far beyond the field. From social lunchtime practice to national championships, every student has the opportunity to get involved, have fun, and represent WHS with pride and positivity.
Our Sports Department offers a wide range of inclusive opportunities for all levels — from seasoned athletes to beginners trying something new. With more students than ever taking part, sport at WHS fosters belonging, balance, and wellbeing across our diverse school community.
We encourage all students and families to uphold the WHS Code of Conduct ensuring that sport remains enjoyable and respectful for everyone involved. Together with the dedication of our staff, coaches, and community, we continue to build a culture where participation, effort, and school spirit are celebrated.
At Wellington High School, sport is about giving it a go, striving for your best, and living our values – on and off the field.
