CODE OF CONDUCT

Players’ Code

As a player I will:

Play hard, but always within the rules of the game.

Respect and value the abilities and limitations of all players — both teammates and opponents. Ensuring the sport and the sidelines are safe spaces for everyone.

Accept officials’ decisions without gesture, complaint, or argument.

Represent my school with pride, integrity, and sportsmanship.

Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Support my coaches and the instructions they give.

Show appreciation to coaches, officials, opponents, and supporters.

Give my best effort — play with intensity, but never lose respect or control.

Understand when wearing the WHS colours, you represent our community’s history and our future.

Whānau Code

Refrain from any criticism, abuse, or negative comments directed at officials, players, or coaches.

Emphasise genuine effort, teamwork, and improvement ahead of winning.

Encourage players to accept all outcomes — success or loss — with dignity.

Recognise and applaud good play by either team, and never ridicule any player.

Actively discourage any form of violence, aggression, or unsportsmanlike behavior.
