Term 4 Re-registrations
Students must re-register separately for Term 4, as registrations from Term 1 do not automatically carry over.
This is necessary due to the impact of senior exams and potential changes in player availability and commitments during Term 4.
As a result, team structures and registrations are reviewed to reflect current participation levels. No trials are held in Term 4.
Team selections are based on the Term 1 teams, with flexibility to accommodate new students or players wishing to change between competitive and social levels.
These updates and adjustments will be managed through a Term 4 sport-specific meeting, where players can confirm their interest and team placement for the remainder of the year.
We want every student to have the best experience possible. Please keep the following in mind when signing up:
Team Placement: Every registered student will be assigned to a team, unless we are imformed this student is no longer playing.
Competitive Players: Must attend scheduled trials to be considered for competitve teams.
Trial Attendance: If you cannot make the proposed trial dates, please contact the Sports Department prior to the trial. Competitive players who do not attend trials may be placed into a social team, depending on player numbers.
Low Numbers: If there are not enough players to form a specific team, we will contact you directly to discuss alternative options.
Withdrawal: We understand plans change & considering some training times are not confirmed until after registration. If you can no longer participate, please notify the Sports Department as early as possible.
⚠️ Note on Late Withdrawals: Dropping out after teams are finalised creates significant scheduling and administrative issues for both the school and regional sports organizations. Early notice is greatly appreciated!

Trials
Attendance is compulsary for anyone wishing to be considered for competitive teams.
We strongly encourage all interested students to ensure they are present and prepared. Please keep an eye on school notices, email updates, and our social media channels for exact dates, times, and further information.
*Note Social players do not need to attend trials; teams are formed directly from registrations. However, all players must attend a mandatory pre-season meeting to confirm their team placements with the sports department. Keep an eye on the notices for the scheduled time and location.
Social & Competitive Teams
WHS Sport aims to provide inclusive and accessible sporting opportunities for all students. Whether you’re looking for a fun, social experience or a more competitive challenge, there’s a place for everyone to participate, develop skills, and enjoy school sports.
Competitive teams
Require trials, and team placements are made at the discretion of the coaches, selectors, and the Sports Department.
Players who are registered and selected for competitive teams are expected to commit fully to attending all practices, games, and team events throughout the season.
If a player is unable to attend a trial, practice, or game, they must contact the Sports Department directly and as early as possible to explain their absence and discuss any necessary accommodations.
Select competitive teams are eligible to represent WHS in external tournaments and competitions, and if a team qualifies for regional or national competitions, all players are required to attend and cover the associated costs.
The Sports Department aims to place every student who wishes to play competitively into an appropriate competitive team wherever possible; however, final team placements depend on factors such as registration numbers, squad sizes, and competition requirements.
If there are not enough players to form a competitive team in a particular grade, students who registered for competitive trials may be placed in a social team instead, while still being expected to honour their commitment by attending fixtures regularly and providing reasonable notice if they are unable to play across the season.
Social teams
Organised by registration and do not require trials. However, all social teams must attend a pre-season meeting to confirm they are playing and final team placements with the sports department.
Specific details regarding the pre-season team selection meeting will be provided in the school notices & by email.
Students may request to play alongside friends, but they must clearly list their intended teammates on the registration form, and all team members must register individually before the closing date.
While social teams focus on fun, inclusion, and participation, players are still expected to attend and play in all scheduled games their team is entered in.
Regular attendance shows respect and commitment to teammates, and while occasional absences may happen, defaults should be avoided whenever possible.
Every player is encouraged to contribute positively to their team throughout the season. Social teams are not eligible for tournaments, but they participate in regular games and school fixtures.
