Stand Up, Stand Out is an initiative that gives young, aspiring entertainers the chance to take their first steps down the path of a career that could change their lives. Hundreds of secondary school students from all over Auckland take part in competitive heats and semi-final rounds.

Birkenhead College has a proud history of achievement in this musical showcase for the Auckland region, with past students being offered the chance to record their music in a professional studio, reaching the North Shore Finals, and being recorded live for television broadcast.

SUSO 2022

Long-time BC band Yellow Lines has made it to the finals of the 2022 Stand Up Stand Out Competition! Hundreds of students from all over Auckland took part in the highly competitive heats and semi-final rounds, and now Yellow Lines will battle to impress the judges and win a share of $6,000 in prizes, concluding with a special guest performance by hip hop legend, Che Fu.

We also have Ryu Tanriosa (see his performance, right) on guitar and Crispin Manikkam beatboxing in the top five for the Instrumental Finals, at the same time and place. Three lots of finalists just shows how much musical talent BC has!

The finals showcase will take place in the Great Hall, Auckland Town Hall, on Saturday 24 September, from 3 til 6:30pm.
