Mission

With more than 1,000 members, predominantly children and youth, more sports have now been included: Darts, Netball, Rugby Union, Rugby 7’s, Touch Rugby, Tag and Volleyball to cater for the diversity of members.  Primarily descendants of the island of Penrhyn Island, the club now has a diverse multicultural make up by affiliations to the Penrhyn Island people.  From these humble beginnings we enter our third decade and a need to cater more for our children and youth has directed our vision towards them by incorporating sports to help with discipline and to gain a perceptive of their culture, traditions and the importance of their identity.
Our mission statement is to uphold Christian values and traditions of the Penrhyn Island people. To give members opportunities that create, develop and participate in sports and physical recreation at all levels.

Objectives

  • Promote and develop sportsmanship with the club, so that members can excel in National and International levels of Sports.
  • Help, support and nurture the future of its members through assisting, teaching, guiding and developing skills required for sporting excellence.
  • Develop, uphold and enforce discipline with the club.
  • Respect each and every member’s views and opinions on sports and physical    recreation at all times.
  • Promote and encourage leadership skills that will help nurture club members to become leaders.
  • To help assist with personal grievances where applicable and appropriate.
  • To uphold applicable values and traditions of the Penrhyn Island ethnicity.
  • To support, encourage and educate club members to embrace the Penrhyn Island ethnicity through language and other forms of traditions and will include prayer and worship in accordance to the club.

PSCI is now seriously trying to find solutions to help with an increasing rate of child and youth violence, arrogance and lack of interest in general by holding sports events, tournaments and competitions.  This is our hope to incorporate sports into their lives so that our children and youth have something active to look forward to and to help deter them from trouble and focus on leadership skills to pass on to the next generation.
