John Taia

John Taia’s previous experience as all-rounder office administration/sales and marketing person will put him in good stead in again taking up the Treasurer’s role. As a former Club President, Treasurer & Assistant Treasurer John looks forward to working alongside the current Managing Committee and the challenges moving forward.

Initiating the creation of an official website for the Penrhyn Sports Club, is just one of the many stages that John believes in bringing us to embrace the technology of today, whether by texting or the updating of new information for the website (e.g. Event listings) and at present, concentrating on the Club’s Newsletter, moving through each code to acquire information that would help him eliminate problems.

Networking and utilising the skills of others within the club – John will not be shy to ask them for assistance.
John truly believes communication is crucial within any club. However, he will need “everyone’s” assistance so that we can continue and maintain to improve the overall experience for all of our kid’s future.

People from the island of Penrhyn (an atoll in the most Northern part of the Cook Islands) left their island in search of a better life and future for their families, where a migration to Auckland, New Zealand started in the early 1900's. In 1981 the Penrhyn people came together with an interest to play cricket. This humble beginning would ignite the dream and vision for a brighter future for generations to come. The original name of the club was Tongareva/Hararanga (other names associated with Penrhyn) and from these diminutive beginnings in 1982 our club took on a new name given by founders, Penrhyn Sports Club.
