McLaren Falls Park

🐎 Riding at McLaren Falls Park

McLaren Falls Park is a stunning natural reserve located just 20 minutes from Tauranga, known for its tranquil lakes, scenic walks, and beautiful cascades along the Mangakarengorengo River. While the falls themselves often run low due to upstream power generation, they’re especially impressive during the rainy season. The park is a popular spot for walking, picnics, photography, and during warmer months, even swimming.

🐴 McLaren Falls Equestrian Area

Tucked away at the rear of the park is one of the Bay of Plenty’s best-kept secrets for riders β€” the McLaren Falls Park Equestrian Area. Spanning 13 hectares of open riding terrain, this area is open to all riders and offers:

  • Beautiful open space for general riding

  • Cross-country style terrain with panoramic views over Mauao (Mount Maunganui) and the Kaimai Ranges
